Jerry Dean III (“The Georgia Kid”) grew up in the idyllic mountain town and bluegrass music haven of Dahlonega, Georgia. At high school, he honed his craft alongside fellow student Zack Brown, the future Grammy Award-Winning country-music star. Dean’s eclectic performances and idiosyncratic songs made him a local favorite in his hometown, though he has also found success touring Europe. After relocating to Atlanta Dean began collaborating with Connor Christian, co-writing songs that would later appear on the Billboard Country Chart topping album New Hometown (2015). Recording a critically acclaimed album with multi-platinum record producer/musician Michael Hartnett (Yela Wolf, Rehab) and engineer Don McCollister (Shawn Mullins, Indigo Girls), Dean continued to tour the southeast, often lending support to acts like singer/storyteller Jerry Harmon (“The Smokey Mountain Gypsy”).

 The Georgia Kid hit Arizona territory in 2007, embarking on a successful career in Tucson. He quickly fell in with Dusty Buskers, an incendiary ol’ timey/bluegrass street band, who won the Tucson Area Music Award (TAMMIE) for Best Bluegrass Band from 2008 through 2012. The act toured regionally, opening for Carolina Chocolate Drops and Devil Makes Three. Dean then undertook an apprenticeship with various classic country veterans, performing regularly with Clear Country Band. He tours intermittently to Europe, hosting events in Zurich, Switzerland and Glastonbury, UK. In 2015 he began collaborating with lyricist and comedian Dean Steeves, putting music and melody to songs alternately cheeky and heartfelt. 

The epynominously titled “The Georgia Kid” was released in 2019 on local americana label Old Bisbee Records, and features local talent Heather Hardy (violin), Annie Hawkins (vocals), Pete Swan (drums), and Rich Brennion (pedal steel guitar).
